The main duties of medical transcriptionist is to understand, interpret and transcribe dictation by physicians and other allied health care professionals in order to accurately document patient care and facilitate delivery of health care services. A medical transcriptionist needs a practical knowledge of medical language, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and laboratory medicine along with excellent grammar and punctuation.
Candidate must have successfully completed a medical transcription program. The candidate must have at least 1 years of experience in a multi-specialty clinic or acute care setting. The candidate must also have comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology along with AAMT guidelines and procedures. You must be able to meet the quality and productivity standards and deadlines established by the employer, be proficient with Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, and E-mail. It is necessary that candidate is able to comprehend diverse dictator accents and dialects and varying dictation styles. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills including fluency with the English language, grammar, and punctuation. Reports that require attention of the QA staff would need to be flagged, and be able to accept and utilize constructive feedback and suggestions. You are considered an IC therefore you will be responsible for your taxes.
FULL TIME: 1000-1200 lines per shift (day)
PART TIME: 500-600 lines per shift (day)
The primary purpose of this position is to edit medical dictation for quality assurance against the actual dictation consistently. This position will be responsible for recognizing, interpreting, and evaluating for inconsistencies, discrepancies, and inaccuracies in a medical document. Candidate must possess an excellent knowledge of medical terminology and medical transcription AAMT guidelines and procedures. QA specialist will need to comply with policies and procedures.
Minimum 3 years acute care transcription and/or 2-years experience as a Quality Assurance Editor with a strong background in acute care transcription and editing. Candidate must be proficient in advanced medical terminology, have excellent listening skills, and have the ability to handle difficult dictators and dialects and varying dictation styles. As well, the individual must be proficient in referencing and researching for accuracy, clarity, and completeness of reports along with excellent communication skills to give constructive feedback to the transcriptionists. Editing skills such as correction of demographics, document format, grammar, punctuation, and medical terminology are a must. Also, this individual must meet quality and productivity standards and deadlines established by the employer. Must be able to work independently and follow written/verbal instructions and communicate with the management to keep them informed of workflow issues and problems that may arise. CMT certification preferred.
